My name is Natalie VanDerWal and I am a photojournalism student attending college at the University of North Texas. I've been a journalist for eight years and have skills in live online news reporting, long-form and feature journalism, videography, photography and photo, video and copy editing. I have a deep love for capturing the beauty of nature and the human experience. I aspire to tell the hard-hitting, intimate and emotional stories that deserve to be told.
I have 12 published stories with the North Texas Daily, which I wrote independently, and have worked with the Daily's staff collaboratively to compose two pieces covering issues on campus at UNT.
I will graduate from the University of North Texas in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in Photojournalism and a minor in Peace Studies. UNT's Mayborn School of Journalism is nationally accredited by ACEJMC, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
